The new site is located in a former brewery and will go operational next year. In the medium term, it will produce more than 20 tons of food per day.
Planted has been making its meatless products since 2020 in its primary location in Kemptthal, Switzerland. 75 percent of its exports go to Germany.
The new facility is designed to be climate-friendly. Planted is teaming up with the local Alois-Müller Group on the project.
“We’re delighted to be working with Planted, especially in the areas of sustainability and sustainable solutions in building technology,” said spokesman Alois Müller in a statement. “The facility will be equipped with photovoltaic electricity, groundwater well cooling and regionally produced district heat so that it is virtually climate neutral.”
