Germany Tops in Intra-European Labor Mobility
A new report has found that more than anywhere else in Europe, Germany profits from people crossing borders to work in the country.

The European Commission’a “Annual Report on Intra-EU Labour Mobility 2023” determined that 3.4 million EU and EFTA “movers” worked in Germany. That was far more than Spain, Switzerland and Italy, the only countries hosting more than 1 million movers.
Germany was clearly the most popular destination for movers from the five largest countries of origin, Romania, Poland, Italy, Portugal and Bulgaria.
The number of EU and EFTA nationals who work in another country has expanded exponentially over the past two decades. International mobility is considered a crucial element in mitigating the effects of demographic change and ensuring a reliable labor force in the future
