That’s according to consultants Ernst & Young’s annual Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index. Only the United States beat out Europe’s largest economy in the index. China, last-year’s number two, was relegated to third on the list. And Germany ranked first, ahead of Spain and the US, in power purchase agreements.
“The market is set to continue accelerating expansion of its solar photovoltaic (PV) sector as a core element of its decarbonization strategy, with the government setting targets of 11 GW of ground-based and 11 GW of rooftop installations per year from 2026,” stated the Index “The energy minister has also announced plans to subsidize the decarbonization of energy-intensive industry.”
