The Swedish non-profit, venture capital investment foundation says that more than one-third of the 41 top impact start-ups located in Europe come from Germany. Britain was second with ten fledgling companies followed by Sweden with eight.
Energy is a particular German strong suit, with five of the six start-ups making the list being from the country: 1Komma5º, Cylib, Enter, Kitekraft and Kraftblock.
All three entries on the list in the category “food” also come from Germany: BLUU Seafood, Formo and PlanetA Foods.
The remaining start-ups on the list are Constellr and Plan A (both climate), Ada Health and Vara (healthtech), To Zero and Traceless (recycling), and Squake (transportation).
Constellr and Plan A are both part of Germany's Digital Hub Initiative. Germany Trade & Invest is responsible for internationalizing that program. Find out more here.
