Consulting Services, Agroecological Research on the Benefits and Agroecological Processes in Natural Farming in Andhra Pradesh

Project:

The KfW has entered into an agreement with RySS to implement the Indo-German Global Academy for Agroecological Research and Learning (IGGAARL), with the project objective to deliver convincing research results - according to internationally acknowledged scientific standards - that further Agroecological (AE)-farming in Andhra Pradesh (AP) and beyond, and to improve rural livelihoods, in terms of incomes, food, nutrition, and health security while enhancing eco system services.
RySS successfully promotes Natural Farming (NF) in AP through the AP Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) programme (https://apcnf.in/). NF advocates to reduce the use of external inputs. Farmers and other stakeholders describe several benefits of natural farming, such as: healthier soils (more organic matter and worms), reduced water use, better crop resilience to droughts, floods, and torrential rains, healthier food and family, lower input costs, etc. However scientific evidence on these benefits and the underlying agroecological mechanisms are largely missing.

 

Requested Services:

• The IGGAARL makes funds available to national and international research organisations to conduct agroecological research in Andhra Pradesh to find such scientific evidence.
