Germany Awards Most Prestigious Start-Up Prizes
An Internet security firm and an oral hygiene company took top honors at the 21st edition of the German Entrepreneur Awards.

The 2023 German Entrepreneur Awards (Deutscher Gründerpreis), the country's most prestigious acknowledgements of entrepreneurial excellence and achievement, were announced on September 13 in Berlin.
Winning the prize in the category Start-Ups was Friendly Captcha from Wörthsee in southern Germany. It has developed an alternative security riddle for the Internet helping websites ward off misuse. The runner-up was the Munich edtech firm Edurino.
Coming out tops in the category Up-and-Comer was the Munich start-up Happybrush for its comprehensive, environmentally friendly toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss system. The runners-up here were Hamburg’s Dealcircle, which supports mergers and acquisitions, and Berlin solar energy company Enpal.
The Special Prize went to ex-football professional Benjamin Adrion and his firm Viva con Agua. The Lifetime Achievement Prize was awarded to former Oetker Group CEO Rosely Schweizer.
The German Entrepreneur Awards are presented in cooperation with partners Stern magazine, the Sparkassen (savings banks) network, German national public television broadcaster ZDF and carmaker Porsche. They are supported by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
