German Exports Record Vigorous Growth to Start 2024
Goods exported abroad from Germany were up 6.3 percent in January – the largest rise since the middle of 2020.

The increase in the German trade surplus dramatically exceeded expert predictions, which had forecast a rise of only 1.5 percent. Imports to Germany were also up 3.6 percent.
Seasonally adjusted figures showed that EUR 135.6 billion worth of goods were sent abroad compared with EUR 108 billion were brought in.
EUR 75.8 billion worth of products went to other European Union member states – a monthly increase of 8.9 percent. Exports to China and Britain were also up by a similar margin. The largest single-country importer of goods from Germany remains the United States, with EUR 12.5 billion.
