Turnover in Germany’s travel industry in 2024 was more than in the final year before the coronavirus pandemic 2019.

Germany’s Federal Statistical Office says EUR 496.1 million was spent on overnight stays last year. That set a new record and represented a 0.1 percent increase on 2019. The figure for December 2024 was EUR 31 million up 0.3 percent on 2019.
The raw numbers of overnight stays also increased compared with four years previously.
The recovery was driven by increased stays in vacation homes and campsites. Hotels and similar establishments also booked rises in turnover and stays compared to 2023, but the figures remained slightly below 2019 levels. The same is true of rehabilitation and training facilities.
