Almost a Billion Euros Approved for German Chip Factory
The European Union Commission has greenlighted EUR 920 million in state assistance for a major Infineon semiconductor project in the eastern German city of Dresden.

Infineon says it will use the funds as part of a five-billion-euro production facility expansion. The project aims to increase the company’s ability to make a broad spectrum of chips, thus increasing European autonomy in this area.
The company added that the semiconductors made in the expanded factory would serve the goals of decarbonization and digitalization and would be used in the automotive and renewable energy sectors.
Production is expected to commence in 2026.
