The so-called “gigahub” has a potential capacity of five gigawatts a year. The highly automated procedures will dramatically cut production time, says the company. The factory is one of the biggest of its kind in the world.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz attended the opening of the facility.
“With the serial production here in Rahlstedt, they want to reduce production time by 75 percent,” said Scholz. “That’s impressive. It shows what’s possible in our country.”
Electrolysis stacks use green electricity to split water molecules and produce climate-neutral hydrogen for use as a fuel.
