The launch was carried out at the Koonibba Test Range in Southern Australia on April 30. The twelve-meter-long rocket can carry a payload of 250 kilograms. It’s propelled by a mixture of paraffin and liquid oxygen.
The launch has been characterized as the first in decades by a German company. Hyimpulse is headquartered near the southwestern German city of Heilbronn.
Company founders say that the hybrid propulsion system reduces expenses compared with conventional ones. Hyimpulse is hoping to take advantage of expected increased demand for micro-satellite transport.
