Global semiconductor manufacturer Vishay Intertechnology is investing USD 400 million in the first phase of construction of a new 300 mm MOSFET automotive component factory in Itzehoe, Schleswig-Holstein.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the planned facility took place on March 21, with local business and political representatives in attendance. The centerpiece of the massive new facility will be the clean room for 300 mm wafer technology. In the first phase, construction of 2,100 square meters of cleanroom space is planned. This will be expanded to 4,000 square meters at a later construction phase.
The expansion will see Vishay double production at the Itzehoe site where it already produces 200mm wafers, and represents the single biggest investment in the company’s history. Vishay Intertechnology moved its entire MOSFET automotive production to Itzehoe eight years ago, with the new investment securing the long-term future of the site and its workforce. The planned expansion will create 150 new jobs at the Schleswig-Holstein site. According to the company, production should be up and running by the end of 2025.
