Rehabilitation works for the Water Supply & Wastewater systems of Lezha

Project Description:

Within the framework of the German Financial Cooperation with Albania funds were provided to the Albanian government for investment measures in the Water and Wastewater Sectors which earmark medium sized cities. Additional funds were provided by EU under the IPA 2018 action, directed to wastewater by the Swiss government through SECO. The Municipal Infrastructure Programme V (MIP V) (BMZ-Nr. 2013 66 467) includes the city of Lezha. The focus of the project is the improvement of water supply, wastewater drainage and -treatment, as well as disaster relief (stormwater disposal).

 

Brief Description of the Contract:

Water Supply Measures: 

in the areas of Shengjin, Koder Malekaj (Lezha) and the villages of Kakarriq and Gocaj:

Supply and installation of a total of ~29km water distribution network pipes diameter ≤ OD225PE and transmission main pipes 3.82km DN500DCI and 660m OD110PE, including electro-fusion fittings, valves, domestic water meters, hydrants, the construction of ~960 house connections in PE-RCOD20–63, incl. supply and installation of electro-magnetic bulk flow meters for district metering. 

Construction of 2 new wells and rehabilitation of 2 existing wells, incl. supply and installation of submersible pumps as well as equipment for surge protection, disinfection, power supply and SCADA. Construction of a new reservoir 400m3, rehabilitation of a reservoir 1,000m3, construction of a new booster pump station - all incl. pipes, valves and appurtenances, power supply and SCADA equipment. Establishment of a local SCADA for pump stations and wells and connection to the existing central SCADA .

 

Wastewater Measures in Lezha:

Sewage: Construction / rehabilitation of ~1,300 m of wastewater network ID250-1000PE incl. ~46 manholes (PE) and ~1380m service connection lines DN200 and ~130 house connection manholes (PE). Construction of 7 overflow structures. Rehabilitation of 2 wastewater pump stations incl. pumps ≤75kW, pipes, valves, appurtenances and all mechanical, electrical / SCADA equipment and works.

Stormwater: Replacement of total ~2,655m by supply and installation of: ~760m corrugated PE pipes ID300-1200; ~1,540m box culverts ≤1.94x1.5m, ~290m pressure pipes OD1200PE and ~ 65m open trapezoid channel 3.0x4.5m, incl. incl. ~ 90 manholes, sand / gravel traps and curb inlets. Construction of 27 high performance inlet manholes, as well as ~2,340m service connection lines DN200 and ~234 house connection manholes (PE) on mixed sewerage sections. Construction of 1 new stormwater main pump station 3m3/s incl. pumps, pipes, valves, appurtenances and all civil-, mechanical-, electrical- / SCADA equipment and works. 

Wastewater Treatment Plant: Construction of new inlet pump station, new fine screen building, new venturi parshall flume, new aerated grit and grease chambers with blowers, new biofilter and new phosphprous removal plant, incl. all civil-, mechanical- and electrical works
