Brief description of the Contract:

International, open Tender for Consulting Services: Climate-friendly Modernisation of Bus Services in Major Cities of Tamil Nadu – Implementation Consultant Services

Project measures: Under the “Climate-friendly Modernisation of Bus Services in Major Cities of Tamil Nadu” project (the “Project”), the German Financial Cooperation (“German FC”) will support the PEA and the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (“TNSTC”) in their envisaged reform program for Tamil Nadu´s public transport sector. Amongst other initiatives targeting an improvement of service quality, the reform program includes a comprehensive fleet and ICT modernization program as well as a performance and governance improvement program to bring about sustainable transformational change as well as improved environmental outcomes.

For the current phase, the total investment volume for the Project is approximately EUR 274 million of which the German FC will provide EUR 200 million and the residual will be contributed by GoTN. The Project will finance the following envisaged investments for selected STUs: Up to 2,213 diesel buses with BS VI standard; Up to 500 e-buses including upgrading of depots with necessary charging and supporting infrastructure; Software and hardware for enhancing efficiency of operation and maintenance as well as overall management; a Passenger Information System (“PIS”); Establishment of cashless payment and travel system for integration with other mobility systems.
