Consulting Services, Energy Efficiency (Water Sector)

Brief description of the Contract:

The water sector in Jordan is the biggest consumer of electrical energy due to the unfavorable topographical and hydrogeological situation in the country. The high energy consumption is mainly caused by inefficient water pumping and distribution systems and generates high operation costs of the water supply utilities. Furthermore, the use of electrical power produced of fossil sources (>95%) leads to high CO2-emissions. Consequently, the objective of the present programme is “Reduced costs of the Jordanian water companies as well as an improvement of the energy balance as a contribution to the mitigation of climate change

 

Requested consulting services:

The Project Executing Agency (PEA), the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ) intends to engage an international consultant for the implementation of the intended investment measures. Requested consulting services comprise the preparation of detailed design and tender documents, assistance to PEA in Tendering and Contracting and construction supervision.
