Project

The King Abdullah Canal (KAC) is the largest irrigation canal in Jordan running parallel to the east bank of the Jordan River from north to south throughout the Jordan Valley (JV). The KAC is an artificial water conveyor serving as a water source for drinking water supply of Amman and Irbid as well as for irrigation throughout all parts of the Jordan Valley.

KAC was constructed between 1959 and 1987. After intensive operation, the canal faces severe water loss problems. Recently, a Feasibility Study (FS) was prepared which examined possible options for the rehabilitation of the Northern part of the canal. The study includes the rehabilitation by placing a new reinforced concrete slab on top of the existing lining for the full length of the Northern section of the canal (65 km) as per the Prequalification document.

 

Brief Description of the Contract:


The Jordan Valley Authority is seeking to engage a qualified Implementation Consultant (IC) to support the implementation of the investment.

The IC will carry out at least the following Stages (list is to be treated indicatively):

  • Stage 1: Preparation of Detailed Design
  • Stage 2: Preparation of Environmental and Social Impact Assessment
  • Stage 3: Preparation of Tender Documents
  • Stage 4: Assistance during Tendering
  • Stage 5: Supervision of Works
  • Stage 6: Services during Defects Liability Period (DLP) and Closure of the project
  • Stage 7: Assistance for Operation and Maintenance Procedures (Tender Documents, Tendering and Contracting for O+M Equipment)
