Construction, Rehabilitation and Expansion of Water Supply and Sanitation Systems

Project measures:

The Project aims to provide sustainable and equitable drinking water and basic sanitation facilities for the population and contribute towards the protection of water resources. The Project objective is to contribute to the protection of Lake Victoria from pollution by improving the quality of wastewater discharged into the lake and catchment area.

Requested Services Lot 2 : 

• Replacement (66km) and expansion (28km) of water supply network in Kericho, Belgut, Ainamoi and Kapsoit, replacement of the about 7,930 defective consumer and bulk water meters and installation of about 2,000 additional new meters;
• Replacement of about 7 km of old, dilapidated and undersized sewers and expansion of existing sewer network by about 35 km, within: central CBD, CBD North, CBD South, Majengo, Baraka and Nyagacho Areas; Construction of about 1,800 plot connections; Rehabilitation and upgrading of the existing WWTP from 660 m³/d to 3,500 m³/d; Repair of 4 exhauster trucks;
• Rehabilitation of existing raw water intake works, conveyance system, Itare WTP and storage tanks;
• Construction of a faecal sludge treatment facility with treatment capacity of 20 m³/d; including discharge bay equalization tank (32 m³), 2 anaerobic baffled reactors, 1 facultative pond, 2 constructed wetlands, 6 sludge drying beds, site and ancillary works
