Consulting Services, Sustainable Management of the Fisheries Resource in Nouadhibou, MR

Brief description of the Contract:

Mauritania has significant fishery resources and is a major player in the West African fishing industry. In 2025, the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy (MPEM) reoriented its resource management system towards a system based on the setting of total allowable catches. The Mauritanian Institute of Oceanographic Research and Fisheries (IMROP) is responsible for providing scientific advice and recommendations that serve as a basis for the MPEM's decisions on the management of fishery resources.

The present project aims at supporting the establishment of an Operational and Scientific Complex (COS) that will be located at the Blue Towers site in Nouadhibou. This concept aims to provide a response in terms of infrastructure and technical and scientific capacities, both of which are essential for the sustainable management of fisheries resources. The consultant to be recruited will be responsible for assisting IMROP, over a period of five years, to implement the scientific work and to ensure administrative and financial management.
