The Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper calculates, that when other projects like chipmaker TSMC’s just-announced megafab in Dresden are considered, the volume of planned large business expansions in Germany is almost EUR 70 billion.
The list does not include expansions valued at less than EUR 50 million.
Companies doing the investing come from both within and outside Germany and include big names such as Apple, Birkenstock, Siemens, Intel, Infineon and ZF/Wolfspeed.
“When I’m abroad, I keep hearing lots of praise and respect for Germany,” Stefan Schaible, global managing partner at consultants Roland Berger, told the Süddeutsche Zeitung. ”We’re still very well positioned in research and development, and such an environment continues to elicit business investments, both domestic and international.”
