The figure represents an annual increase of 29.8 percent over April 2023. Private PV units had a capacity of approximately 81,500 megawatts – a yearly rise of 20.5 percent.
The figures include all units that fed electricity into the grid but not so-called balcony PV units, whose electricity remains outside the system.
2023 was a record year overall for photovoltaics in Germany. Some 53.6 million megawatt hours of electricity were fed into the grid. That was the equivalent of 11.9 percent of all energy fed into the network. The corresponding figures for June 2023 were 8.5 million megawatt hours and 27.3 percent.
