The German government is dramatically increasing its support for electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

EUR 500 million will be allocated to private households to install charging stations with their own electricity supply. And EUR 400 million will be going to support companies to create charging stations for commercially used vehicles such as taxis, rental cars, delivery vehicles and vehicles used by tradespeople.
The funding is conditional upon the recipients owning an electrical vehicle. It is estimated that at least 60 percent of all EV charging takes place at home or at work.
“We’re making electromobility attractive and reliable,” German Minister for Digital and Transport Volker Wissing said in a statement. “That eases pressure on the power grid and is good for the environment.”
