Project

The overall Programme Impact is to improve the living conditions in host communities for Lebanese population and refugees and contribute to the reduction of health risks. The objective of the Programme is to improve the access to safe drinking water in host communities of Syrian refugees and to reduce the population´s vulnerability to climate change impacts by improving water infrastructure. Extension, construction and rehabilitation of water supply infrastructure are the intended investment measures as Programme Outputs. More specifically, measures implemented in the service area of BMWLE with the Governorates of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (six districts Jbail, Kesrouan, El Metn, Baabda, Aley, Chouf) are Project Outputs and shall reduce the pressure on public fresh water caused by the increased utilization. Different Project investment measures were defined depending on the specific situation and needs including but not limited to the following technical scope: 

• Rehabilitation, extension and construction of water lines; 

• Rehabilitation or construction of reservoirs; 

• Rehabilitation or construction of pumping stations; 

• Equipping of existing wells and drilling of wells; 

• Rehabilitation of existing or construction of WTPs.

 

Requested Services as IC

  • to identify a final list of Project investment measures based on prioritized needs, to develop an efficient procurement and operation concept, and
  • to ensure that all Project investment measures are designed in an optimised way and construction works are carried out meeting quality, the timeline and the planned budget. 

    An efficient management of the assignment in close cooperation with main stakeholders is considered key.
