Review: Post Brexit – New Trading opportunities in the EU
On February 19, 2019, the German-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce organized the “Post Brexit – New Trading opportunities in the EU” workshop in Auckland. The panel consisted of seven experts who highlighted the implications of various possible Brexit scenarios and from a range of angles. This included political developments within the UK, market access and customs, taxation issues as well as foreign exchange rate outlooks. For decades, New Zealand companies have used the UK as their main gateway to enter the European market. The numerous questions from the 38 participants illustrated that New Zealand businesses are already actively preparing for the consequences of Brexit. Germany Trade & Invest was represented by Heiko Stumpf from the Sydney office, who showcased Germany as an attractive investment destination for NZ companies.
