Germany Issues First Tenders for Climate Protection Contracts

The initiative sees the German government putting up to EUR four billion into the raw materials industry – with more to come.

Companies can apply for support of up to EUR one billion over 15 years. Applications will be evaluated on cost-benefit of the lowest amounts requested with the greatest positive climate effects.

The tenders are particularly aimed at supporting the development of a green hydrogen economy.

“Today is a good day for Germany as a location for industry, for climate protection and for sustainable jobs in our country,” said Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck in a statement.

Moreover, a second round of tenders is scheduled to begin this year. It will take the total volume of state support above EUR 10 billion.
